Job Description

LearnVest for iPhone has been featured in New & Noteworthy, downloaded over 100,000 times and continues to keep a 4.5-star rating in the AppStore. We’re looking for a world-class contractor to join us for as we build our iPad version. This iOS developer will report to the Lead iOS Developer while building new and exciting iPhone app features that will delight our users and revolutionize personal finance.

iOS Developer | Responsibilities:

  • Play a key role in the development of LearnVest’s iPad application
  • Replicate view controllers, UI elements, and controls directly from designer comps
  • Participate in the overall maintenance of the applications, including bug fixes, performance
  • Consult iOS team on new technologies, APIs, SDKs, tips and techniques
  • Write clean and tested objective-C/native iOS code
  • Generate technical documentation for various aspects of the application

iOS Developer | Requirements:

  • At least 2-3 years of experience writing polished, consumer-facing, native, mobile applications for iOS with at least 1 professional iPad app in the AppStore
  • Obsessive faith to beautiful design
  • Experience working under a professional designer
  • Experience working with bug-tracking and versioning tools (PivotalTracker and GIT a plus)
  • Strong familiarity with client server concepts
  • Experience writing web-enabled iOS applications that interface directly with custom or public RESTful APIs using JSON.
  • Familiarity with web programming technologies, like (X)HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, jQuery and XML.
  • Experience with CoreData, CoreAnimation, UIView animation blocks, multi-threading, 3.5 vs 4 inch aspect ratio, push notifications, UIControl subclassing, 3rd party SDK integration, analytics
  • Demonstrated understanding of good, segregated MVC architecture
  • Experience in, and eagerness for, working in the rapid-fire environment of a young, dynamic startup
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to convey ideas and suggestions across multiple parties in the company
